Toronto, Ontario (AHN) - Canadian Federal Health Minister Tony Clement announced that Canada has allocated $45 million to fight HIV and AIDS in Africa.
The Canadian Press reported that the funds will build on the $515 million that Canada has earmarked for the global fight against AIDS for the past three years.
The monies will be infused for programs in South Africa and Mozambique, providing medication for those infected with HIV, as well as educating those who are at risk of contracting the virus.
Clement announced the funding last Monday during the 17th International AIDS Conference in Mexico City.
