August 7, 2008 4:21 p.m. EST Vittorio Hernandez - AHN News Writer Ottawa, Ontario (AHN) - The Liberal Party will meet next week at the Ottawa home of party leader Stephane Dion in Stornoway to discuss their response to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's challenge to bring issues the Liberal advocates before the electorate. In particular, the Liberal Party will focus on its planned carbon tax, the main platform of the party. Before the caucus, Dion said he wants to get some feedback from constituents. The green plan, according to the Globe and Mail, is complicated that even Dion's aides find it difficult to comprehend. Some Liberal members have expressed apprehension the complex green strategy may turn off voters. All indicators from the Liberal and Conservative Parties point to an election by fall. Bob Rae, Conservative MP for Toronto Center, told the Toronto Star on Saturday, "The choice for Canadians is becoming increasingly apparent and it's really just a matter of time." A senior Liberal MP agreed a fall election is inevitable. "My sense is that for the first time in months the Dion people and the campaign people are no longer coming up with a list of reasons why they need to buy time. It's a pretty dramatic change," the MP told Globe and Mail.
