August 7, 2008 8:06 p.m. EST Norman Vergara - AHN Sports Writer Philadelphia, PA (AHN) - The Philadelphia Phillies added a second left-hander to their bullpen Thursday with the acquisition of veteran Scott Eyre from the Chicago Cubs. The Phillies, who only have southpaw Ryan Madson during the middle innings, shipped minor league right hander Brian Schlitter in the deal. Eyre has appeared in just 19 contests this season with the Cubs and totes a 2-0 record with a 7.15 ERA. He's surrendered a total of eight runs in his last three appearances, prompting the NL-best Cubs to designate him for assignment. The veteran also had been on the disabled list several times because of elbow and groin injuries. In his third season in the Windy City, Eyre has only tallied 11.1 innings this season. Eyre also played for the Chicago White Sox in his first four years in the majors. He then suited up for Toronto and San Francisco before arriving with the Cubs in 2006. The Inglewood, California native has a 23-29 mark and a 4.42 ERA in 556 games totaling 605 innings.
