Joseph Mayton - AHN Middle East Correspondent Cairo, Egypt (AHN) - Egyptian diplomats are gaining headway into creating inter-Palestinian dialogue over the current divisions that have seen sporadic violence and arrests erupt in the West Bank and Gaza. Egyptian officials reported on Saturday that Palestinian groups were responding to Egyptian questions concerning their views, ideas and stances to resume dialogue. A leader in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) said that his organization was "one of the factions that sent their responses to the Egyptian leadership." Egyptian diplomats are now waiting on other groups, most notably Hamas in Gaza and Fatah in the West Bank, in order to arrange and schedule a dialogue that will take place in Cairo. Egypt has been pressing Palestinian factions to return to the negotiating table for weeks since a string of arrests by Hamas and Fatah sparked an increase in internal turmoil amongst Palestinian groups. Cairo sent a letter to the leaders of the groups questioning them over involving them in the agenda of a dialogue they hope to take place in the immediate future. Both Fatah and Hamas have been optimistic of jump-starting stalled talks although an official response from the groups has yet to come.
