London, England (CNS) - Amy Winehouse doesn't only appear on tabloids these days, a latest survey shows that she also haunts Britons' nightmares.

According to a survey given to 3,500 people conducted by hotel chain Travelodge, the "Rehab" hitmaker is the top public figure that scares her countrymen through their dreams, even beating out eerie Marilyn Manson.

Others who made it to the Top 10 list are Pete Doherty, The Cheeky Girls, Heather Mills, and Simon Cowell. British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling are also terrifying the British people.

A separate question also shows that being chased, losing a loved one, being jobless, homeless or broke are common nightmare occurrences in people.

Travelodge's Leigh McCarron explains, "It's no wonder Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling are making a special appearance in our nightmares at the moment, both symbolize the fears we are facing in today's economy."

The respondents claim that they sometimes wake up sweating, in a panic, crying, or shaking when they are having nightmares.

The top 10 public figures who appear in nightmares are:

1) Amy Winehouse

2) Marilyn Monroe

3) Gordon Brown

4) Pete Doherty

5) The Cheeky Girls

6) Simon Cowell / Kerry Katona

7) Cherie Blair

8) Jodie Marsh

9) Heather Mills

10) Alistair Darling
