August 18, 2008 4:55 p.m. EST Matthew Harvey - AHN Sports Reporter Glasgow, Scotland (AHN) - The Scottish Premier League Rangers signed USA International player Maurice Edu to a 2.6 million pound contract, locking him up for the next five years. The 22-year-old midfielder formerly played with the FC Toronto club, and was highly recommended by former star player Maurice Johnson, who coached Edu during his stay. For his age, Edu brings a truckload of experience. He has captured six international titles in the youth ranks. He's now preparing for the World Cup qualifier, along side his new teammate DaMarcus Beasley back home. The Rangers had a rough go of it last year, bombing out of the Champions League and losing fan-favorite Carlos Cuellar to Aston Villa. Edu joins Aaron Niguez and Pedro Mendes as new, high profile recruits in their ranks.
