August 18, 2008 7:23 p.m. EST Jan Westmark - Celebrity News Service Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - The Food Network is about to get gross. It is planning a reality show which is being described as a cross between an eating competition and "The Amazing Race." In other words, run as fast as you can to a certain restaurant and then try and eat 200 hot dogs in record time. Yum. The new series is tentatively titled "Eat the Clock," and will have two teams of contestants rushing to various Los Angeles eateries and then gorging themselves in face-stuffing contests. The pilot is set to begin shooting soon and if the project gets picked up, it should debut early in 2009. The Food Network isn't the first cable channel to embark on an all-you-can-eat type show. Earlier this year G4 debuted "Hurl," an eat-till-you-hurl show and Spike TV aired a series of Major League Eating events. ESPN also airs competitive eating events like Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest.
