Matt Aug - AHN Sports Editor Seattle, WA (AHN) - Heather D'Errico, a sophomore at Robert Morris College in Illinois,is the recipient of the 2008 Billy Welu Scholarship, an honor awarded annually by the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA). The scholarship recognizes exemplary qualities in male and female college students who compete in bowling and awards $1,000 to the winner. "I really want to thank the PBA for this award because it just shows that hard work and dedication really pay off in the end," D'Errico said. "Winning an award as prestigious as this only motivates me more to achieve my goals." "I hope one day to be a part of the PBA Women's Series. I look up to Shannon O'Keefe, Diandra Asbaty and Kim Terrell (Kearney). I hope to one day be up to their level. They have taught me a lot," she added. D'Errico has a 3.75 GPA and plans on majoring in Exercise Science and Fitness. She was named to the NCBCA Academic All-American team and was a member of the Robert Morris College President's Deans List. In her freshman year she started on the varsity team in the roles of lead-off, starter and anchor and led them to the ITC Sectionals in Las Vegas where the Robert Morris College team finished second. The second place finish placed them in the ITC finals in Wichita in March of 2008. She has competed in Junior Gold five consecutive years and was named to the Dexter All-American team as a senior in high school. She also represented New York in the inaugural Denny's All-American High School Championships in 2007.
