Rejected By Hong Kong, British Glam Rock Gary Glitter Agrees To Go Back To London

Bangkok, Thailand (CNS) - British glam rocker Gary Glitter has finally agreed to fly to his homeland after finding out that Hong Kong has rejected him. He is currently awaiting boarding instructions in Thailand.

The 64-year-old convicted child sex offender was deported from Vietnam on Tuesday, where he spent almost three years behind bars for sexually abusing two minor girls, and was in Bangkok Airport while awaiting connecting flight to London.

He refused to board a plane headed to London, thus, the Thai immigration officials ruled that because he had violated immigration laws for overstaying in the country without a visa or a scheduled flight to another country, they would deport him to Hong Kong. However, Hong Kong refused to allow him entry and sent him back to Bangkok.

The singer - real name Paul Francis Gadd - then agreed to leave the country for London.

Col. Voravat Amornvivat, spokesman for the immigration service, told Agence France-Presse, "We have to expel him to Britain, his homeland and the only country which must allow him to enter as he's a national."

"He's likely to leave tonight, but as of now we still can't confirm his flight."

Glitter doesn't seem to have much choice in the matter. At least 19 countries, including the Philippines refused to admit Glitter, calling him an "undesirable alien."
