Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Campaign offices of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) received two suspicious letters Thursday afternoon. McCain's offices in Denver, CO, and Manchester, NH, each received a letter, according to the campaign.

Both offices were evacuated after the Denver letter was found to contain a suspicious white powder. McCain himself was at home in Arizona at the time.

The letter opened in Manchester was handwritten with a Denver return address, according to campaign spokesman Jeff Sadosky.

"We are taking all necessary precautions," Sadosky said.

In a statement to the media, McCain's campaign explained, "A staffer in the McCain Denver office opened a letter containing a threatening letter and a quantity of white powder."

"Staff immediately contacted local and federal law enforcement. Staff are taking all necessary precautions, including checking in with medical professionals."
