August 21, 2008 9:50 p.m. EST Norman Vergara - AHN Sports Writer Beijing, China (AHN) - Host China made it 7-for-7 in the Olympic diving pool Thursday when teenager Chen Ruolin took the gold in the women's 3-meter platform event with a stirring finale at the Water Cube. The 15-year-old Chen dived last among 12 participants and made a searing backward two-and-a-half somersault with one-and-a-half twists, on the way to finishing with 447.70 points for the gold. Canadian Emilie Heymans captured the silver with 437.05 points and Chinese Wang Xin made 429.90 points for the bronze. With Chen's victory, China has now won seven gold medals in diving and can make it a perfect 8-for-8 with a win in the men's 10-meter platform this weekend. The gold medal restored glory for the Chinese team in the 3-meter platform event, after it eluded the host country in the previous two Olympics. In Sydney, Chinese Li Na lost the gold to American Laura Wilkinson while Lao Lishi suffered a shocking setback to Australian Chantelle Newberry four years ago in Athens.
