Denver, CO (AHN) -House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was briefly evacuated from her Denver hotel over the weekend after police arrested a man carrying weapons without a permit, according to KUSA-TV.

Pelosi, who is scheduled to speak on the opening day of the Democratic National Convention at the Pepsi Center in Denver on Monday, was evacuated with other guests at the Grand Hyatt hotel late Saturday. No one was reported harmed.

The security alert occurred after a 29-year-old Wyoming man named Joseph Calanchini tried to check in the hotel with two rifles and two pistols.

Calanchini, who has no criminal record, said he was unaware that the Democratic convention would be held in Denver this week. He was planning to have the weapons repaired before a hunting trip.
