(AHN) - A wildfire that left nine homes damaged and 10 destroyed in the Boise, Idaho area, also claimed one life. Boise State University professor, Mary Ellen Ryder, was trapped in her home by the fast-moving flames.

The fire has been linked to dry brush and was further fueled by high winds on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. Boise Mayor Dave Bieter issued a local disaster declaration in the aftermath of the disaster.

Homes evacuated include those along the rim, including Aphrodite Court, E. Homestead Rim Court, E. Trakker Rim Drive, S. Sweetgrass Place, S. Hay Seed Way, E. Lichen Street, S. Adonis Way and E. Flores Court.

The fire broke out just after 7 p.m. in the Oregon Heights subdivision.
