August 26, 2008 11:02 a.m. EST Komfie Manalo - AHN News Writer Baquba, Iraq (AHN) - A suicide attack killed 25 police recruits and 40 others in Jalawla, 90 miles north of Baghdad in the Iraqi province of Diyala on Tuesday. Police said the suicide bomber was wearing an explosives-laden vest and rushed himself into a crowd of police applicants at a recruiting center in central Iraq. Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Khalifa said the bomber blew himself up upon nearing the crowd of young Iraqi recruits just before midday on Tuesday. The bombing is the latest violence in a series of attacks by suspected Sunni Islamists in Diyala.
