Detroit, MI (AHN) - Fausto Carmona allowed four runs and seven hits in six innings and Kelly Shoppach homered as the Cleveland Indians notched their 10th straight win, 9-7 over the Detroit Tigers Wednesday night.

Carmona (7-5) who also walked three and struck out eight, bested former AL rookie of the year Justin Verlander (10-14), giving the Tribe the third spot in AL Central.

Trailing 3-1, the Tigers mounted a comeback with consecutive RBI singles from Brandon Inge, Ramon Santiago and Curtis Granderson off Carmona in the bottom of the second, to pull ahead 4-3.

Shoppach belted a two-run homer off Verlander in the fourth, giving back the advantage to the Indians at 5-4 and the lead for good.

Shin-Shoo Choo smacked a two-run homer in the seventh, giving extra insurance at 7-4.

Magglio Ordonez homered and drove in three runs for Detroit, which suffered its fourth straight setbacks.

Meanwhile, Cleveland, who has won 16 of their 19 games overall, became the first Indian team since the 2002 club to register 10 straight victories.
