August 28, 2008 8:22 a.m. EST Matt Aug - AHN Sports Editor Atlanta, GA. (AHN) - D.J. Shockley's best opportunity to gain a roster spot with the Falcons is Thursday night, when Atlanta takes on the Ravens in their final preseason game. The quarterback has been a huge draw in the preseason, even though he has not played much since suffering a serious knee injury during camp in 2007. That is because Shockley starred at nearby University of Georgia, completing 55.8 percent of his pass attempts (173-of-310) for 2,588 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2005, his senior year. It was a major step-up for Shockley, who only threw 133 total passes in his first three years with the Bulldogs. Shockley has major competition for a quarterback job with the Falcons, however, as Matt Ryan has already been named starter for the season. Joey Harrington and Chris Redman may be ahead of Shockley on the team's depth chart, as well.
