August 29, 2008 4:16 p.m. EST Matthew Harvey - AHN Sports Reporter Beijing, China (AHN) - The Milwaukee Bucks play the Golden State Warriors will be playing two exhibition matches in Beijing come October, helping the NBA further its reach in the Far East. The games will tip off in Guangzhou on the 15th of October, and will then move to the Beijing Olympic Basketball arena on the 18th. The exhibition events will serve two purposes: first and foremost, proceeds will be going to Sichuan Province earthquake relief funds. Secondly, the NBA continues to try and build the popularity of the sport in China. The arena is expected to sell out at its full capacity, 17,173. In addition to the two NBA games, there will be other games, sporting events, concerts and other attractions. "Our partnerships with the Chinese Basketball Association, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sport and the Guangzhou Sports Bureau provide us with the great opportunity to extend the NBA's long-term relationship with Chinese basketball and bring the authentic NBA experience to fans in Guangzhou and Beijing," Tim Chen, CEO of NBA China, told NBA.com The games will be televised in over 200 countries and territories, including China and the United States.
