Jan Westmark - Celebrity News Service Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - NBC is having a great summer. First they had a ratings hit with the Olympics, and to make things a little better they also had a hit with the summer series "America's Got Talent." Thanks to the success of the show, and the talent of Americans, the show has been renewed for a fourth season. NBC announced Thursday that the show will continue, claiming it is the "most successful winner in reality television history." Celebrity News Service isn't sure it is the most successful -- after all, "Survivor" is headed into its 17th installment and "American Idol" has produced some real stars. If you stop and think about it, even "The Bachelor" has produced one real and lasting relationship. Ok, so maybe "The Bachelor" doesn't count. One thing "America's Got Talent" did do this summer was increase its ratings over the previous summer. But it may have something to do with the commercials for the show that featured the little four-year-old singer from New York. If someone could package that cuteness and sell it, they would be millionaires. On the commercial, the little girl is asked if she is from New York, and she replies, "I live in America." The "awww" factor is very high on that one, and actually makes you want to watch the show. For now, "America's Got Talent" needs to finish out its season. Each week, the top acts will perform for America's votes with the ultimate winner of the million-dollar prize being crowned during a live finale on Wednesday, October 1 (9-10p.m. ET). Bringing the variety format back to the forefront of American culture, "America's Got Talent," hosted by Jerry Springer, showcases the hottest performers from across the country, with the winner being chosen by the television viewing audience. The show features a colorful array of hopeful future stars -- singers, dancers, comedic performers and unique acts of all ages -- who have a chance to strut and perform in front of a panel of celebrity judges including David Hasselhoff, Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan.
