August 29, 2008 3:19 p.m. EST Jupiter Kalambakal - AHN News Writer London, England (AHN) - American consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble Co. confirms that some of its subsidiaries in Europe are involved in anti-trust investigations. In a Securities and Exchange Commission disclosure on Thursday, P&G said that United Kingdom authorities are probing possible antitrust and competition laws violations involving one of its subsidiaries. It added authorities in Spain and Italy have also begun additional inquiries into potential antitrust matters in those countries. The Cincinnati, Ohio-based firm was also reportedly involved in investigations in Belgium, Romania and Greece. U.K. authorities started their investigation in April while European Commission officials in June for various EU countries. A number of subsidiaries were visited by authorities and documents seized with the investigations. P&G did not identify any subsidiary in the disclosure saying no official charges have been filed against the company or any subsidiaries.
