Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, celebrates his 50th birthday on Friday. While Jackson's image seems to be ever-changing, one thing is for certain: he has created some of the world's best-selling records.

Jackson spoke to ABC's "Good Morning America" the morning of his birthday, and told them he was planning on spending his birthday in a low-key fashion with his children. He is the father of three kids, Prince Michael, 11, Paris, 10, and Prince Michael II, 6.

Jackson, who is responsible for albums such as Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous and HIStory, said he is enjoying the process of raising his children and letting them experience the childhood he never had.

Jackson started out his life as a member of the Jackson 5, a band made up of his brothers, before launching into a solo career that made him a superstar. While his music has influenced generations, unfortunately it is his quirky lifestyle that people seem to notice the most. And his affinity for plastic surgery.

Celebrity News Service did a survey to see what fans thought about 50 years of Michael Jackson, and most had a similar response.

"He is one of the greatest musical talents in musical history, but he is very weird," one fan said. "But I'm still glad we have his music."

Jackson doesn't seem to be bothered by the "Wacko Jacko" rumors, and said in his phone interview with "Good Morning America" that he feels wise and sage and looks forward to the future.

The King of Pop did have some good news when it comes to his music -- he is still writing new songs and loves to compose -- and that will make many of his fans happy.
