Foxborough, MA (AHN) - Patriots' running back Kevin Faulk will miss New England's season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday after being handed a one-game suspension by the league for drug violation.

The suspension which begins Saturday also include a fine of two game checks.

In February, the 32-year-old Faulk was charged with the possession of marijuana during a concert in his home state of Louisiana.

He was later sentenced in July to a year of probation after pleading no contest to the misdemeanor marijuana charge.

Last season, Faulk logged 62 rushes for 265 yards and caught 47 catches for 383 yards and had a touchdown.

Faulk will be eligible to rejoin the Patriots on Sept. 8.
