The 48-year-old actor - who previously denied being a sex addict - finished filming the second season of his hit U.S. TV show "Californication," in which as he stars as a womanizer, last month.

A representative from U.S. TV network Showtime, who broadcast the show, said: "All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the best during this very private time."
