September 2, 2008 8:05 a.m. EST Komfie Manalo - AHN News Writer Mosul, Iraq (AHN) - At least seven people were killed and seven others were wounded when a suicide car bomber struck an army checkpoint in the city of Mosul in Nineveh province Tuesday. A provincial police official said the suicide bomber slammed his explosive-laden vehicle into a checkpoint near the al-Quds neighborhood in southeastern Mosul. It was not clear if any of the trooper manning the checkpoint was killed or hurt in the attack. However, the victims include children, it was reported. Government security forces immediately cordoned off the blast site and rushed the victims to hospital for treatment. Two weeks ago, a suicide bombing attack killed five policemen in Ramadi, a former stronghold of the al-Qaida.
