Late Japanese Horror Film Director Nobuo Nakagawa And Disney Animator Ub Iwerks To Be Honored At The Future Film Festival

Venice, Italy (CNS) - Late horror film director Nobuo Nakagawa and animator Ub Iwerks are to be posthumously honored at the Future Film Festival next year, the organizers announced.

Nakagawa, died in 1984 at the age of 79, had been famous for the folk tale-influenced horror films he made in the 50s and 60s. One of his most recognized work in the 1960 Japanese horror film "Jigoku," which he also co-wrote.

Iwerks, a two-time Academy Award winning animator who died in 1971 at the age of 70, had famously worked for Walt Disney. His works included the "Steamboat Willie" in 1928, a Disney classic cartoon that made Mickey Mouse famous.

Both accolades will display each of their works.

The 11th edition of the Future Film Festival will be held from January 27 to February 1, 2009.
