September 3, 2008 6:24 p.m. EST Jan Westmark - Celebrity News Service Plano, TX (CNS) - Nastia Liukin, the Olympic all-around gymnastics gold medalist, is still enjoying the golden glow of winning five medals in Beijing. She is also enjoying the perks that come with being a recognizable star and an Olympic hero. Perks you say? How about a guest appearance on "Gossip Girl," her picture on a box of Wheaties and her face on Cover Girl ads. Celebrity News Service wasn't surprised to hear of all the good things coming Nastia's way -- and rightly deserved. The 18-year-old gymnast could have pitched a fit during the Olympics when she tied on the uneven bars -- and was ultimately handed the silver medal -- but she accepted the outcome with grace and style, earning the respect of people everywhere. The Vanilla Star Jeans company admits to being a fan of Nastia, and are planning on launching a line of Nastia Liukin Gold jeans and tops in time for the holidays. In fact, Nastia, who won five medals in Beijing -- a gold, three silvers and a bronze -- recently appeared at a J.C. Penney store in her hometown of Plano and was greeted by 6,000 fans. According to the president of Vanilla Star, Mark Levy, he said Nastia signed posters and T-shirts amidst the chaos, staying calm and composed the entire time. The store sold more than 2,000 Vanilla Ts and jeans just that day. The gymnast is also headed to New York to enjoy fashion week. Her invite came from Maria Sharapova. Nastia may also work on a line of leotards, which will probably sell like hot cakes considering most young gymnasts in the country look up to the five-foot three-inch Nastia. The gymnast was supposed to begin college in the fall at Southern Methodist University, but has decided to wait until January and instead ride out the wave of success that is following her gold medal achievement.
