September 4, 2008 12:07 p.m. EST Buddy Shacklette - AHN Motor Sports Reporter Daytona Beach, FL (AHN) - Joe Gibbs Racing appealed to the National Stock Car Racing Commission and won. Joe Gibbs Racing admitted to its infractions found on its NASCAR Nationwide Series cars at Michigan, but argued that the drivers had no knowledge of the rules infractions and should not be put on probation as a result. JGR asked that the two penalties issued by NASCAR to drivers Tony Stewart and Joey Logano be removed. After hearing the appeal Tuesday the Commission decided to remove the drivers' probation while still applying the penalized points. The penalties assessed against each driver were the loss of 150 NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship Driver points, and probation until Dec 31, 2008. The drivers were still penalized the points, but the National Stock Car Racing Commission unanimously decided to amend the probation penalties assessed by NASCAR.
