September 4, 2008 5:10 p.m. EST Matthew Harvey - AHN Sports Reporter New Orleans, LA (AHN) -- Along with thousands of other New Orleans residents, the Hornets have returned in the wake of Gustav, grateful to find that the damage was minimal. The Hornets had taken a big chance with Gustav, having put in no contingency plans in the event the storm rocked New Orleans just like Katrina exactly three years before. During Katrina, the Hornets had been forced out of the New Orleans Arena due to flooding damage. When the mandatory evacuation was implemented upon New Orleans, the Hornets complied along with the rest of the city. The Hornets had holed up in Oklahoma City for two seasons, and only a year ago, had returned to New Orleans. Fortunately for the franchise, the extent of the damage was some denting on the siding of the arena, and a large video marquee took some abuse. The inside was all but untouched.
