September 4, 2008 7:27 p.m. EST Norman Vergara - AHN Sports Writer Helsingoer, Denmark (AHN) - Annika Sorenstam announced Thursday she will take part in the Nykredit Masters this weekend in Denmark, marking her farewell tournament in Europe before retiring at the end of the year. The 37-year-old Swede is looking to add a fourth title of the season at Simon's Golf Club, where she will grant the invitation of Solheim Cup teammate Iben Tining. The Danish Tining, who was the Nykredit winner three years ago, invited Sorenstam when the two played in Dubai. Sorenstam said she is thrilled to play in Denmark as she counts her final days in the sport. The Swede is headed for retirement at the end of the season, ready to call it a career after plucking 10 major titles and 72 LPGA wins. At the Nykredit, Sorenstam and Tining will take their turns along with BMW Ladies Italian Open winner Martina Eberl. A total of 15 Danish players are participating in the event, including previous winner Karen-Margrethe Juul. England's Lisa Hall is the tournament defending champion.
