Disney's Orlando Pleasure Island Closing Saturday

Orlando, FL (AHN) - Six nightclubs at Disney's Pleasure Island in Orlando will close Saturday and Disney officials have said that they will make an announcement about the future of Pleasure Island soon.

The Downtown Disney clubs have served as a nightlife spot for both tourists and locals at the Disney complex since it opened in 1989.

Although other nightlife options have opened elsewhere on Disney property, including at the Universal CityWalk in 1999, Paradise Island remained popular.

Entertainment had been gradually scaled back at Pleasure Island, but the June announcement that it would be closed still came as a surprise to some, according to reports.
