September 29, 2008 4:01 p.m. EST AHN Staff Glendale, CA (AHN) - TiVo Inc. and Nero AG have developed a software pack that would turn personal computers into TiVo digital video recorders. The Nero LiquidTV-TiVo PC kit, which costs $199, has software for Windows XP and Vista that features TiVo DVR interface, a remote control and a USB-based TV tuner to get over-the-air or cable programming. The software allows PC-specific features including the ability to click on screen elements using the mouse and to type into the search bar through the keyboard. According to Multichannel.com, the kit lets users watch and pause live TV on their desktop, record shows directly to the hard drive, transfer shows between computers and existing TiVo DVRs, burn recordings to DVD, and export to portable devices like an Apple iPod or Sony PlayStation Portable. In November, the two companies announced the co-development deal under a revenue sharing scheme.
