Race Car And Dance Champion Helio Castroneves Charged In Tax Case

Miami, FL (CNS) - If you don't know Helio Castroneves as a race car champion, you may know him as a dancing champion. Castroneves and partner Julianne Hough won the 2007 "Dancing with the Stars" reality TV show.

Castroneves may be hanging up his dancing shoes and his racing gear, however, as the 33-year-old is facing federal tax charges in Miami.

A grand jury on Thursday returned a tax invasion indictment against Castroneves, who lives in Coral Gables, Florida. The race car driver is charged with conspiracy and six counts of tax invasion from 1999 to 2004. Castroneves's sister, business manager and attorney were also indicted.

Some news reports are stating that if found guilty Castroneves could face up to 35 years in prison.

A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, he has won the Indianapolis 500 twice. He is currently second in the IndyCar Series point standings.
