London, England (CNS) - Music icon Sir Paul McCartney is set to appear in a spoof TV show. The former Beatles star will team up with comedian Peter Kay for his new show this month.

The 66-year-old legend has agreed to appear in a cameo role in Channel 4's "Britain's Got the Pop Factor... and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice," a three-hour long sitcom created by Kay.

McCartney is reportedly appearing as himself.

A source said that after Kay asked the musician about appearing on the show, McCartney loved the idea and said yes.

The sitcom will be making its debut on October 12.
