October 4, 2008 2:06 a.m. EST AHN Staff Toronto, Ontario (AHN) - Canadian regional carrier Porter Airlines said Friday that it is opting to exercise the purchase of two additional Q400 turboprop aircraft from Bombardier Aerospace. The purchase will boost Porter's airplane fleet to 18 carriers. The budget carrier has six existing 70-seat Q400s, which is known for its speed, fuel efficiency, quiet performance, reliability and low green gas emission. In total, Porter placed orders for 20 Q400s, including 10 confirmed orders and 10 options. Friday's announcement is the carrier's fourth conversion of options into firm orders this year, availing the only two remaining on option. Each plane costs $26 million and phased deliveries are expected to be completed by end of 2009. Porter has flights to Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax and New York and occasionally to Mont Tremblant.
