(AHN) - Bobby Holik, Brian Rolston and David Clarkson each pumped in power-play goals, helping the New Jersey Devils beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 Saturday night. John Madden chipped in a shorthanded goal as New Jersey finished their preseason with a 4-2-1 record. Clarkson made it a 3-1 advantage for New Jersey following a loose ball in the second, for his first goal in five preseason contests for the Devils. Philadelphia managed to come within 3-2 after Flyers captain Mike Richards converted on a power-play goal at 9:06 in the third. Daniel Briere pulled the Flyers to within 4-3 with 3:33 remaining in the match. Goalie Martin Biron turned away 25 shots for the Flyers which dropped to 4-4. Philadelphia will play one more exhibition match against the Phantoms Tuesday night. Martin Brodeur went the distance in net, registering 18 saves for the Devils. New Jersey is slated to open their regular season next Saturday when they host the New York Rangers.
