Buddy Shacklette - AHN Sports Reporter Chicago (AHN) - Open-wheel driver Paul Tracy claims former team owner Gerald Forsythe owes him money and he's taking him to court over it. Tracy, who has competed in both IndyCar and Champ Car events over the last decade, filed suit in U.S. District court, claiming Forsythe owes him more than $2.3 million. The 39-year old Tracy's lawsuit claims breach of contract on the part of Forsythe. Tracy had a $1 million buyout in his contract in case the team ceased operation. According to the suit, Tracy was to be $2.25 million, as well as bonuses, for the 2008 Champ Car season. With the merger of open-wheel there was no 2008 Champ Car season and Tracy said he hasn't been paid since April. Champ Car ceased operation in February with the reunification of open-wheel and most of the Champ Car teams became IndyCar teams. Forsythe opted to run only in the Atlantic series rather than move to IRL. As a result, Tracy was left without a full-time ride and only competed in two races -- the Champ Car finale at Long Beach in April and the IndyCar race at Edmonton in July.
