Newport, RI (AHN) - One of the surprises coming out of the Boston Celtics training camp has been the fine play of rookie acquisition Bill Walker.

The 6'6, 220 pound Walker was picked 46th overall by Washington in the 2008 NBA draft, but the Celtics quickly snapped up his rights.

While at Kansas State, Walker averaged 15.3 points per game, in only 37 games, as much of his college career was spent nursing a torn ACL.

Despite a relatively short colligate career, he was voted three-time MVP, and played for the USA White team, helping them to a 5-0 record in the 2005 USA Youth Development Festival.

In 2006, he was on USA Today's All-Junior team.

He turns 21 on Thursday, and given Celtics Coach's high opinion of the rookie, he has much to celebrate thus far.
