San Francisco, CA (CNS) - A San Francisco district court has ordered RealNetwork to temporarily stop selling its new software that copies DVD movies to PCs.

The sales suspension of RealDVD is until Tuesday, when the court decides if the injunction will be extended until resolution of the case filed by Hollywood studios against the software manufacturer.

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) petitioned the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles to issue the injunction last week complaining that RealDVD infringes on film copyrights contrary to RealNetworks' claim that the program makes legal copies of DVD films.

RealNetworks has posted a notice on its website that RealDVD is temporarily unavailable.
