October 7, 2008 2:16 p.m. EST Linda Young - AHN Editor Blountville, TN (AHN) - Two adults face numerous charges after police responded to reports of an overturned car they say a 10-year-old boy might have been driving at speeds of up to 90 miles per hour before crashing with two other children and the two adults in the car. Police charged one of the adults, Randy Lewis, with his third DUI and child abuse, he admitted to drinking at least 15 beers and liquor before the crash on Flatwoods Road, in the middle of Cherokee National Forest. The other adult, Paula Elaine Evans, was found by police at the scene swallowing pills in rapid succession. They stopped her from swallowing any more. She was hospitalized on Sunday, released from the hospital Monday night and faces several charges. Lewis, 43, is being held in jail with bond set at $10,000. Along with his DUI charge, Lewis, 43, faces charges that include felony reckless endangerment, aggravated child abuse-neglect and driving on a suspended license without proof of insurance for his alleged role in the crash. Evans, 38, who was hospitalized for possible broken bones in her neck, could face charges for possession of schedule drugs, police say. She has been charged with felony reckless endangerment, aggravated child abuse-neglect and seatbelt violation. The children were not injured.
