San Francisco, CA (AHN) - Rafael Cuevas, 26, was convicted by a jury Friday for the fatal stabbing of another baseball fan, Tim Griffith, on Sept. 17, 2004, the night Barry Bonds hit his milestone 700th career home run.

The incident occurred outside the Giants ballpark, and Cuevas, of nearby Daly City, testified that he acted in self-defense in the confrontation.

He also admitted he shoved his knife once into the victim's chest, according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle.

San Francisco Superior Court Judge Cynthia Lee ordered Cuevas back to prison to serve the sentence and also pay $10,000 in restitution in the case.
