Linda Young - AHN Editor St. Louis, MO (AHN) - YRC Logistics, a subsidiary of struggling transportation company YRC Worldwide Inc., will outsource 200 driver and warehouse worker jobs in Missouri and Illinois in mid-November as part of a change in service providers by one of its clients. YRC Logistics has announced the pending lay offs about 50 employees in St. Louis and another 150 in nearby Edwardsville, Ill., but says those workers have all been offered jobs by another service provider. YRC Logistics COO John Carr declined to identify the YRC Logistics customer and the other service provider in the outsourcing arrangement, the St. Louis Business Journal reported Monday. Overland Park, Kansas-based YRC Logistics is a global logistics services provider with 370 facilities in Asia, Europe, North America and South America, it coordinates the movement of goods worldwide in and between more than 80 countries across the supply chain, according to statements on the company website. It is a subsidiary of financially struggling trucking and freight giant YRC Worldwide Inc., (Nasdaq: YRCW), a Fortune 500 company and one of the largest transportation services in the world, which has been reporting losses since last year and has also laid off employees. YRC Worldwide employs 60,000 people worldwide and is the holding company Yellow Transportation, Roadway, Reimer Express, YRC Logistics, New Penn, USF Holland, USF Reddaway, and USF Glen Moore. YRC Logistics was in the news last week for giving Shawnee, Kansas-based Catapult International a contract to manage all YRC ocean steamship line shipping contracts.
