Linda Young - AHN Editor Groveland, FL (AHN) - Renewable energy got a boost when Lake County, FL, commissioners approved hiring a grant specialist to help win a technology grant for a Groveland biodiesel company. Raptor Fabrication & Equipment asked for help to expand its business and create at least 20 high-wage jobs, the state grant could be worth up to $2.5 million. Raptor produces biodiesel from animal fats, discarded restaurant grease and vegetable oils refined through a chemical process that uses very little water. The company would like to create a cluster of biodiesel firms around Groveland. Two other biodiesel companies, Summit Biodiesel and Southern Energy Holdings Inc. also recently set up operations in Groveland.
