Newark, N.J. (AHN) - Scott Hartnell scored twice and Mike Knuble and Joffrey Lupul each contributed a goal and an assist, as the Philadelphia Flyers barged into the win column by posting a 6-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils Friday night.

The Flyers, who entered the game with a 0-3-3 record, snagged a rare win in New Jersey, where they had not been successful since March 2004.

Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne also lit the lamp for Philadelphia, and Martin Biron allowed three goals in the first period, but shut down the Devils in the next two periods to register 23 saves in the win.

The Devils took the lead for the second time at 3-2 in the second period.

Philadelphia countered with captain Mike Richards setting up two scores to give the Flyers the lead in the third.

Gagne tipped in a shot by Richard from left circle, tying the score at 3-all.

About five minutes later, Hartnell pounded home a rebound off a Richards' attempt to give Philadelphia a 4-3 advantage.

New Jersey got goals for Zach Parise, Dainius Zubrus and Travis Zajac.

Netminder Martin Brodeur recorded 28 saves in the loss, easily the worst outing of his season.

Brodeur came into the game with a goals against average below 1.50 to lead the league.

Both teams are slated to meet again this time in Philadelphia Saturday, concluding a home-and-home series.
