Ohio-Based Jancor Closes 3 Mississippi Facilities; 400 Lose Jobs

Booneville, MS (AHN) - North Mississippi lost 400 jobs Monday when Perrysburg, Ohio-based Jancor Companies Inc. unexpectedly closed three facilities.

Jancor is a privately held building products manufacturer founded in 1999, it makes vinyl siding, windows, fencing, decking, railing and other building and construction-related products through several subsidiaries. The construction industry has been severely affected by the economic downturn and stalled housing market.

The decision to close Jancor's Heartland Building Products facility in Booneville, Mississippi was made over the weekend. The 200 employees were told not to report to work Monday.

Jancor also laid off 100 workers at Infinite Building Products Inc. in Olive Branch and another 84 workers in Macon at the Outdoor Technologies Inc. facility.
