Franklin, TN (AHN) - Nissan North America has launched a budget version of its Versa sedan at $9,900, the lowest-priced car available in the U.S. market today.

Nissan, the top sixth car maker in the U.S., said the budget Versa is seen to boost sales as car sales continue to plummet as a result of soaring fuel prices. The company posted a sales slump of 3.4 percent through the first nine months.

Nissan plans to offer zero-interest financing on car loans of up to three years on Versa, Sentra, Altima, Murano and Rogue models.

The new financing options will be promoted through an ad campaign "Nissan Delivers" on Tuesday. Versa will be available in the market on November 18.

The new Versa is equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine at 107 horsepwer and a five-speed manual transmission.

Nissan builds its Versa models in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
