Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) will hold his first press conference as president-elect on Friday. He also plans to make his first visit to the White House after his historic win, on Monday.

Obama's first press conference is expected to focus on the economy. His visit to the White House, which will be made with his wife, follows an invitation from President George W. Bush.

Bush called Obama election night to congratulate him on his "awesome" win and extend the invitation. "Laura and I are looking forward to welcoming them as soon as possible," the President said when he made his first national address after the general election on Wednesday.

The same day, first lady Laura Bush called up Obama's wife Michelle. "Mrs. Bush assured Mrs. Obama that they will enjoy living at the White House, and that it is a wonderful place to raise a family. Also Mrs. Bush extended an invitation to the Obama family to visit the White House," the White House said.
