Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight is blaming rapper superstar Kanye West for the pre-MTV VMA party shooting in 2005, wherein he was shot in his upper right leg.

According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Knight - real name Marion Hugh Knight, Jr. - is claiming the "Stronger" hitmaker allowed someone to smuggle a gun past security at his party at The Shore Club in Miami three years ago. The unknown assailant managed to shoot him in his leg, shattering a bone. Knight also lost a 15-carat, $135,000 diamond stud earring inside the club.

Knight - who recently filed for bankruptcy - now claims he was hurt so badly during the incident that he needed to take a private jet back from Miami. He is suing West for all his injury-related expenses and for "damages for the loss of use and enjoyment of the earring."

He also worked out a deal with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles to allow him to keep a percentage of the amount he would collect from the suit, TMZ reports.
