Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Hilary Duff is returning to the small screen. The former "Lizzie McGuire" star has inked a deal with NBC to star in a new series.

Duff has been assured of starring in a show - which will be developed by Peacock and produced by Universal Media Studios - and guest starring in various existing network shows.

The 21-year-old actress and singer will be meeting with the writers to develop the right project for her to star in.

Duff will next be seen in the dramedy film "Safety Glass" with Steeve Coogan and Molly Shannon, and in "Stay Cool," both slated for a 2009 release.
