New York, NY (CNS) - A perfume maker company has sued Prince and his music publisher Universal Music Publishing group for failing to promote a fragrance named "3121" under a contract.
The $100,000 breach-of-contract lawsuit was filed Monday by Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics Inc. in New York.
The company says it spent $2.5 million and agreed to pay Universal half of net profits from sales of the perfume.
Despite repeated attempts, Universal, which is owned by French media and telecoms conglomerate Vivendi and Prince failed to participate in various promotions since the fragrance "3121" launched in July 2007, the lawsuit claims.
Responding to the claims, Universal Music Publishing group spokesman Peter LoFrumento issued a statement saying the claims are "completely without merit."
