Linda Young - AHN Editor Washington, D.C. (AHN) - General Electric Co. has recalled wall ovens sold under the GE, GE Profile, Monogram and Kenmore brands because of fire and burn hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Tuesday. GE is recalling 244,000 wall ovens sold nationwide from October 2002 to December 2004. Some of the ovens might have their door improperly installed in a manner that leaves a gap that allows enough heat to escape during the self-clean cycle to pose a danger, company officials said. GE (NYSE: GE) is aware of 28 incidents resulting in minor property damage to kitchen cabinets. Consumers can check their ovens to ensure that the door opens flat, which indicates the door was properly installed. If not, they shouldn't use the self-clean cycle until their oven is repaired. Repairs are free.
