'Lean Cuisine' Frozen Dinners Recalled With Chunks Of Hard Plastic

Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Nestle Prepared Foods Co. (NPFC) is recalling nearly 900,000 pounds of Lean Cuisine frozen chicken meals after a consumer complained of biting a bit of hard plastic while eating the packed dinner.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Tuesday the recall of three brands of the frozen meal produced between Aug. 18 and Oct. 27 of this year. These are the 9.5-ounce packages of Lean Cuisine Pesto Chicken With Bow Tie Pasta, 10.5-ounce packages of Lean Cuisine Chicken Mediterranean and 12.5-ounce packages of Lean Cuisine Chicken Tuscan.
"We are requesting that you return recalled items directly to your supermarket for a full refund," Roz O'Hearn, spokeswoman for the NPFC, told ABCNews.com.
NPFC said the products for recall bear different production codes. The recalled Lean Cuisine Pesto Chicken With Bow Tie Pasta bears the production code 8280595912 and use-by date of "Best Before May 2010."
Recalled Lean Cuisine Chicken Mediterranean has the production codes 8231595912 or 8241595912 and a use-by date of "Best before Sep 2010"; 8263595912, 8269595911 or 8274595912 plus a use-by date of "Best before Oct 2010"; or 8291595912 or 8301595912 as well as a use-by date of "Best before Nov. 2010."
The third brand's production codes are 8231595912 or "8241595912 plus a use-by date of "Best before Sep 2010"; 8263595912, 8269595911 or 8274595912 plus a use-by date of "Best before Oct 2010"; or 8291595912 or 8301595912 as well as a use-by date of "Best before Nov. 2010."
